Band 4 Support WorkersEast London CAMHS Alternative to Admissions Pathway

This is an exciting opportunity to join our passionate Support Worker sub team to join the new CAMHS Alternative to Admissions service, developing across East London. The post holders will work in local communities with children and young people experiencing mental health crisis to support discharge from inpatient services, prevent admission and enable recovery. You will need to be able to engage young people experience mental health crises, and their families. You will need well developed caring, compassionate and thoughtful risk assessment and management skills, be able to work closely with young people and their families, often in their own homes, and have the skills to work independently in a community setting - an understanding, interest and appreciation of the needs of the many diverse communities in East London will be important and the ability to work in a culturally informed way is essential.

The post holder will work with other multi-disciplinary team members to support the delivery of high-quality assessment and treatment interventions for young people
- under the direct and indirect supervision of a registered professional.

They will have an awareness of risk management techniques, as well as clear understanding of escalation protocols.

They will utilise skills to be able to creatively deliver interventions to a diverse population, working in a culturally informed way - maintaining a good knowledge of local resources to support young people to reintegrate into the community.

The post holder will need to work flexibly across the three boroughs, based on the needs of CYP and their families. Appointments will be conducted as according to these individuals needs and may take place in a variety of locations - such as patient homes, local community settings, community CAMHS sites or in inpatient wards when needed.

They will contribute to wide team functions, such as audits, quality improvement, research and service evaluation.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
