We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well-organised Supervisor to support the General Surgery Admissions Team

You will need to display good leadership skills, as you will be responsible for leading and co-ordinating the administrative team on a daily basis, providing supervision and support to ensure full functionality of the Planned Care Admissions Team.

This post is fundamental in the provision of a high-quality customer focused service in an environment with complex demands and priorities and requires someone who has the ability to use their own initiative, be well organised, work independently and also be team orientated. Excellent communication, organisational and prioritising skills are essential, along with the ability to work under pressure, following strict guidelines and working to deadlines.

You should have previous NHS experience and demonstrable computer literacy skills.
- To be responsible, through the supervision of the General Surgery Admissions Waiting List Offices, for the day-to-day co-ordination of General Surgery Admissions admitted patient and outpatient attendances, ensuring a high quality, efficient and patient centred service.
- To assist the Assistant Service Manager and the multidisciplinary team in the planning of admissions and outpatient appointments, ensuring that patients are provided with appropriate information regarding their admission / attendance.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of all correspondences with patients throughout their admission process.
- To be responsible for supporting individual admission officers with complex admissions and outpatient bookings and identify resources required.
- To liaise with the preassessment service and all members of the multidisciplinary team, acting as first point of contact for resolving patient and service issues.
- To arrange patient transport if required for elective preassessment, admission and outpatient appointments in conjunction with Trust guidelines and policy.
- To assist in managing waiting list activity, admission data and outpatient attendances with Trust IT systems (i.e., PiMs), other associate IT systems (i.e. Galaxy, ) and Trust activity reports (i.e., Patient Tracking List, 18 week Referral to Treatment) and action any errors.
- To assist the Assistant Service Manager in reporting of weekly activity data to the Operations directorate.

To co-ordinate planned absences and ensure team functionality continues.
- To act as an effective role model at all times, promoting best practice.
- To ensure maintenance of excellent relationships, communications and teamwork with all disciplines within the department, other departments of the hospital and external agencies.
- To attend and actively participate in team meetings and at Division level as required. - To resolve patient / staff human resource issues and concerns where possible informally.
- To report any adverse incidents or patient complaints to line manager and assist in investigation process where required, actioning any outcomes / improvements in practice.
- To supervise and monitor the training of new staff and to supervise and support junior Planned Care Admissions team staff on a day-to-day basis.
- To record staff sickness and absence using the Trusts reporting tool ensuring accurate records are maintained at all times.
- To monitor whether junior staff are working to an acceptable standard and according to their job descriptions.
