We currently have 2 posts available at MPFT for a Mental Health Clinical Trainer.
The role delivers clinical training to support the interface between the Professional Education and Development team and the inpatient mental health services.

This includes those services delivering specialist mental health care and treatment. It will act as an enabler for the Trust’s ambition to provide integrated, seamless care to patients in Staffordshire and Shropshire.
This will involve liaising with service Matrons, clinical experts and other service personnel.

The training will include practical mental health nursing skills as well as procedures such as cannulation, education in long-term conditions, and evidence based practice in a variety of mental health related fields.

The individuals will devise delivery packages suitable for 1:1 or small group delivery in the workplace and support the increasing use of on-line training, where appropriate.
- Design and deliver training and clinical development for agreed staff groups.
- Identify, deliver and monitor training required for specific professional groups through liaison with clinical specialists, operational managers, and professional leads across the Trust.
- Contribute to service improvement by interpreting operational training requirements and delivering appropriate training packages in a variety of innovative formats.
- Provide bespoke support to clinical staff in developmental roles or as part of performance management to develop skills and confidence in the delivery and facilitation of training where required.
- Engage in teaching and assessment of clinical competences within the workplace setting, as required.
- Work alongside clinical staff to supervise new learning, improve confidence and monitor competence as required.
- Ensure that clinical training is delivered in line with the latest evidence based practice, ensuring that the role is embedded in research in defined clinical areas in order to ensure that teaching is of the highest calibre using evidence based practice.
- Take a lead on the practical embedding of national best practice research findings in professional practice.
- Bespoke training in response to adverse incidents and Serious Incident investigations.
- Develop, sustain and maintain specific training programmes in special areas.
- Working with recruitment and resourcing team to provide support for new starters.

Working closely with the Matrons to identify service training needs and deficits the successful individuals will support the transition of theory-based knowledge into everyday practice within in-patient mental health settings.
Individuals will support the mainly nursing workforce in adopting new practices and ensure the transition best practice and new developments into practice.
The post holder will also support the research ambition of MPFT as a University teaching hospital. These two roles will be supporting the mental health in-patient services - one role will be within the Shropshire Care Group and the other within the Specialist Care Group.
