LUHFT is the largest research active innovative Trust in the area.

The R&I department undertakes sponsorship of a varied portfolio of research studies from CTIMP's to qualitative interview studies.

It also contracts to undertake monitoring for external sponsors when required including phase 1.

The role of the successful applicant is to support the Research Governance Manager in Sponsorship oversight, to ensure the Trust is compliant with it's legal requirements to conduct research and to provide assurance of data integrity by study monitoring.

To develop and undertake an appropriate research quality control programme for LUHFT. To liaise with other Trust departments and close collaborators in relation to research activity.

To work with Chief investigators to ensure proportionate oversight of research activity.

To review research protocols and contribute to the Joint Research Office sub committees.

To provide training in research where appropriate. To act as a resource for staff concerning research sponsorship issues.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

The position of Trust monitor is part of the Research Governance team and has responsibility for developing and undertaking the programme of Trust sponsored study monitoring to ensure data integrity and participant safety for LUHFT sponsored research. This may include travel to other sites in the UK and support of external sponsors on the MHRA accredited phase 1 unit.

The Trust Monitor will also support the Research Governance Manager in oversight of research sponsorship and the compliance with and maintenance of a suite of Sponsorship SOP's

They will also be expected to be able to review research protocols and take an active part in the joint research committees approval process.
