This is an excellent opportunity to help shape a leading digital function in the NHS. The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Manager (VDI) Engineering Manager will play a key role in our Infrastructure & Unified Communications Team and be responsible for the management and delivery of VDI Engineering function to the trust in accordance with service level agreements whilst maintaining high levels of system availability and customer satisfaction.
Working as a VDI Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the VDI Engineering team, technical staff specialising in support, security, maintenance, deployment and management of VMWare Workspace One and Horizon based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure across the organisation.
You will act as the overall owner of the VDI Engineering function including development of the service and tasked with resolving challenging and highly complex issues that have been raised through the Digital Service desk.
Working collaboratively with the Infrastructure and Unified Communications Lead and other Operational leads you will ensure that service delivery and improvement plans are developed, implemented and reviewed.
You will also manage a small team of 2 engineers:
We are looking for technical VDI Engineering managers who have an excellent understanding of server and storage management. You will have in depth specialist knowledge of working in an IT Support environment and possess specialist knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure platforms and their correct usage.
