Finance Technician

Our client is looking for an experienced Finance Technician.
To work with the court of protection and appointee team managing clients monies.
To assist with the administration of Court of Protection and Appointee cases on behalf of the nominated Deputy/Appointee for Lincolnshire CC
To be responsible for managing an allocated caseload from new referral through to day to day maintenance referring to the Deputy/Adult Care workers where required for authorisations.
To ensure that all entitlements to benefits and other income is correctly managed and claimed on behalf of the service user, seeking professional advice where appropriate.
To complete the reconciliation and updating of client bank accounts using excel spreadsheets.
To assist with the reconciliation and updating of client accounts including the compilation of annual accounts; ensuring monies are promptly claimed and liabilities paid.
To manage weekly diary activities, daily bank reconciliation, processing of invoices, personal allowances through online banking or issue of cheques as appropriate.
To ensure the timely and correct handling of all incoming correspondence and emails on a daily basis, and to undertake filing and file maintenance for the team.
To take telephone enquiries providing advice or referring to other members of the team as appropriate.
To assist in the ongoing review of procedures.
To assist in the development and maintenance of record keeping systems in respect of the inventory of client possessions held.
To maintain effective working relationships and communications with the main stakeholders in the administration of both the Deputyship and Appointeeship role.
To perform other duties, which reasonably correspond to the general character and level of responsibility for this post.
Knowledge / Experience
A basic understanding of financial procedures
One year experience of working in a financial environment
Experience of using computerised financial systems
Experience of prioritising own work to achieve performance targets and deadlines
Experience of communicating effectively with customers and colleagues at different levels and adapting communication style as appropriate
Ability to process data to deadlines whilst achieving a high level of accuracy
Good communications and customer care skills
Keyboard skills, with the ability to learn to use financial systems
Ability to work accurately, with an attention to detail
Ability to take responsibility for own workload, but willing to assist other team members as required
Willingness to work as part of a team
Recognition of the confidential nature of the work
Knowledge of the DWP Benefits system
Experience working with Microsoft Excel and Word
Technical Skills / Ability
Numerate, with the ability to understand financial information and to interpret and apply procedures .
Ability to carry out manual bank reconciliation of client accounts using Excel
Proven use of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to use databases and other computerised systems in a quick and efficient manner
Ability to work to deadlines whilst achieving a high degree of accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively to customers and colleagues at different levels and adapt communication style as appropriate
Ability to take responsibility for own workload, but to recognise when to seek guidance.
A clear understanding of the importance of integrity and confidentiality and the ability to apply this.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
