Position: Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer
Location: Grimsby
Salary: £285.00 Per Day
Shift: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00
(Approx. 3 days in the office, 2 days at home, but as a manager, flexibility and presence in the office are expected.)
About the role:
The Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a team of Environmental Enforcement Officers. This temporary role offers the potential for a permanent position based on performance and organisational needs. The position involves overseeing operational and enforcement activities focused on environmental protection, crime, and other community issues. The role requires an individual capable of handling complex situations, advising residents, and coordinating projects that contribute to a safer and cleaner environment.
Key Duties:
*
Supervise and coordinate the functions of Environmental Enforcement Officers, ensuring the effective delivery of services.
*
Enforce laws related to waste management, environmental protection, public health, and nuisance abatement.
*
Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare cases for legal proceedings.
*
Oversee surveillance operations in compliance with relevant regulations.
*
Produce and analyse reports, notices, and letters to support enforcement actions.
*
Assist in developing service plans and designing new procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
*
Manage resources including staff, vehicles, and equipment.
*
Engage with stakeholders, including residents, community groups, and other agencies, to gather information and promote compliance.
*
Work as part of a team to deliver operational and enforcement activities as detailed in relevant service plans and the Council's outcome framework.
*
Manage a team of Environmental Enforcement Officers addressing a range of community and environmental issues including environmental protection, environmental crime, and other matters affecting the street scene and amenities of the community.
*
Offer advice, respond to appropriate service requests, use the necessary enforcement powers, and coordinate specific projects.
Requirements:
*
HND in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Waste Management, or equivalent experience.
*
Proven track record in community-based service delivery and building effective relationships.
*
Significant experience in an enforcement role, with a strong understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks.
*
Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, team supervision, and detailed report writing.
*
Willingness to work flexibly, including outside core hours, and to engage in lone working when necessary.
