We are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator who will work collaboratively with all staff within the business to ensure that working practises, procedures are followed and the plant and equipment are operated within the boundaries of the Law and HSE.
**Overall Responsibility**
Responsible for the provision of advice, support and compliance within the company with regards to Health & Safety.
To uphold this overall responsibility, the following job activities will be completed efficiently and effectively:
- Training: maintain the H&S training database, ensuring that any training requirements are highlighted and, where required, book employees on the appropriate courses. To include the creation and coordination of in-house training where applicable to employees in line with current requirements.
- Be part of the internal Auditing process for iso14001 iso9001 iso45001
- Carrying out internal audits and inspections to verify compliance to company procedures.
- Develop, manage and monitor completion to, a site health and safety action plan. Action plan will be developed from multiple sources such as, but not limited to, accidents & near misses, general assessments such as fire, noise, legionella and task based risk assessments.
- To support the Staff SHEA in providing dedicated Health and Safety support to the Washington Plant.
**Responsibilities-**
- Co-ordinate the risk assessment process
- Oversee first aid arrangements
- Organise and deliver training
- Write and issue reports as required
- Issue Health and Safety briefings & Collate
- Carry out regular safety audits and tours
- Take health and safety meetings notes and issue minutes
- Carry out accident and incident investigations including maintaining logs and ensuring actions are complete
- Support health and safety initiatives
- Manage PPE
- Support with Contractors procedures and permits to work
- Any other duties commensurate with the position as and when required.
- Effective Communication: to ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed and updated in relation to H&S. Acting as chairperson for all committees and steer groups.
- Records: to ensure that all company COSHH records, risk assessments, method statements and H&S statistics are up to date and accessible to all employees.
**Skills-**
- Qualified to a minimum of NEBOSH Certificate level or equivalent
- At least 1 years’ experience of Health, Safety and environmental practice engineering
- Experience as an internal auditor would be desirable
- Full confidence in all MS Office Programmes
- Must be team oriented and willing to work collaboratively with peers, able to quickly form strong working relationships.
- Strong commitment to compliance, and a proactive approach to safety.
- Excellent communication skills and written skills are essential.
Monday-Friday 8am-4.30pm, with early finish on Friday
Salary-£26k-£28k dependant on experience
