Our client is seeking Residential Childcare Practitioners to provide appropriate day-to-day care to a group of children and young people who have suffered significant trauma, neglect, abuse, complex health needs, and disabilities, and who are likely to display difficult and challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities- Support children and young people to develop behaviourally, educationally, and emotionally to deliver positive contributions to their families, society, and local communities.
- Provide emotional, practical, and personal support to meet their needs.
- Support children and young people to attend school, enjoy leisure activities, and stay healthy.
- Work with colleagues to provide a safe and secure living and learning environment.
- Promote the safety and welfare of the children and young people.
- Undertake tasks such as shopping, cleaning, and cooking.
- Maintain regular contact with families, providing updates on difficulties and progress.
- Work closely with professionals, parents, siblings, and extended family to ensure that Care Plans, Positive Support Plans, Clinical Care Plans, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Plans, Risk Assessments, and Health Plans are accurately detailed and communicated effectively.
- Keep and maintain up-to-date records for each young person, providing reports where necessary.
- Attend meetings, reviews, and conferences as necessary.
- Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willing to complete within 2 years.
- Experience working in a Children’s Home or recent experience with children and young people who have emotional, behavioural, complex needs, or physical or learning disabilities.
- Understanding of child growth and development.
- Ability to assess and evaluate individual needs of young people and their families.
- Physically fit enough to carry out all requirements of the post, including the use of physical interventions.
- Knowledge of Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.
- Enhanced DBS registered onto the update service.
