Originating in Hong Kong in 2018, The Mills Fabrica expanded to the heart of London’s Kings Cross in 2021. The Mills Fabrica is an innovation hub dedicated to supporting ground-breaking techstyle (textiles & apparel), and agrifood tech companies through incubation and our investment fund. The Mills Fabrica also encompasses a sustainability-led co-working space, an experiential retail & innovation gallery called Fabrica X, and hosts curated industry events, to help build and inspire their community.

Position Overview: Fabrica X is seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable innovation gallery and concept store for sustainable brands Manager to lead the integration of design-led curation and retail excellence at The Mills Fabrica, London Headquarters. This role requires overseeing the daily operations of our gallery and store, along with fostering strategic partnerships for showcases. As a key member of our startup community, the ideal candidate should be agile, resourceful, and driven by a passion for sustainable design and impactful retail.

Responsibilities:

  • Innovation Gallery and Store Management:
    • Curate captivating exhibitions that align with Fabrica X's sustainable design vision, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.
    • Manage the retail store, maintaining an attractive display, optimizing inventory, and meeting sales targets.
    • Champion exceptional customer service, assisting visitors with inquiries and purchases, creating a memorable experience.
  • Showcase Partnerships:
    • Identify potential showcase partners and collaborators, nurturing relationships and negotiating terms.
    • Develop a comprehensive rate card based on showcase area square meters, considering market trends and exhibition opportunities.
    • Pitch and present the rate card to potential partners, showcasing the unique value Fabrica X offers.
    • Develop reports and ROI feedback to the showcase partners.
  • Showcase Agreement and Financial Management:
    • Draft, manage, and execute showcase agreements, ensuring all parties' expectations are met.
    • Oversee invoicing processes, tracking payments, and ensuring timely financial transactions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of two members, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to enhance team productivity and engagement.
  • Tours and Bookings:
  • Head up tours of the Fabrica X space, effectively communicating its global campaigns, education around the innovators and retail elements to potential visitors.
  • Manage bookings and reservations, coordinating schedules and ensuring seamless tour experiences.
  • Handle impromptu visits from visitors, partners, and potential collaborators with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Adapt quickly to changing circumstances in the dynamic startup environment, finding creative solutions on the spot.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in gallery management, curation, and retail operations.
  • Strong network within the design-led community, with a track record of successful collaborations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at negotiation and building rapport with partners.
  • Proficiency in financial management, including creating rate cards, managing agreements, and tracking invoices.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and guide a team toward shared goals.
  • Ability to lead tours and present information in a compelling manner to diverse audiences.
  • Agility and adaptability to handle unexpected situations in a dynamic environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, taking initiative and thinking creatively to drive growth and success.
  • Passion for both art and retail, with a 'go-getter' attitude and quick problem-solving skills.
