As the Licensing Sales Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Licensing Sales Director with the licensing partnership strategies across multiple brands. Your primary focus will be on generating revenue by identifying and securing licensing deals, negotiating contracts, and managing key relationships with licensees. This role requires excellent sales and negotiation skills, and the ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Develop and execute the licensing sales strategy to maximize revenue and expand the reach of our publishing house across various product categories.
  2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to a successful conclusion by researching, prospecting, and pitching potential licensing partners across retail and wholesale.
  3. Negotiate licensing contracts, terms, and product specifications, ensuring alignment with company objectives and brand guidelines.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams, including editorial, marketing, legal, commercial sales and creative, to ensure proper execution of licensing agreements and brand representation.
  5. Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer insights to identify new licensing opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
  6. Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to potential licensees, showcasing the value and potential of our brands.
  7. Forecast and track licensing sales performance, analyse data, and provide regular reports to senior management, highlighting progress and areas for improvement.
  8. Stay up-to-date with relevant licensing regulations, copyright laws, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and protect intellectual property.
  9. Collaborate with the legal team to review and advise on licensing contracts, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and risk mitigation.
  10. Ensure that all opportunities to develop wider Hearst partnerships are developed and dealt with in collaboration with various Hearst teams.
  11. Oversee the licensing relationship with the US ensuring all UK Portfolio Directors are up to speed on any existing licences and new launches coming out of IMG and that they execute any marketing support agreed with the US.
  12. To be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
  13. You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.

ABOUT YOU


  1. Proven experience in licensing sales within the licensing or publishing industry.
  2. Strong understanding of licensing practices, contract negotiation, and intellectual property rights.
  3. Excellent sales and negotiation skills with a track record of successfully closing partnership deals and achieving revenue targets.
  4. Solid knowledge of the publishing landscape, market trends, and consumer preferences.
  5. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  6. Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on licensing opportunities.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting.
