About the Role

Overall responsibility for the transport and planning operations of the business, the cost effective and timely delivery of services, driving continuous improvements and further developing integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost-effective service.

• Have overall responsibility for ensuring a coherent interface between every area of the operation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

• Motivate and develop team leaders to equip them with the skills to manage their teams

• Ensure compliance with all Transport legislations and Health & Safety requirements

• Be responsible for communication throughout the transport operation

• Propose and implement changes to the operation to improve efficiency and/or levels of performance

• Ensure a secure and safe environment for team members and assets

• Achieve efficiency through managing planning & controlling staff on a daily basis, and an ongoing basis through objectives

• Manage a team of c.60 drivers, along with a management structure including; Transport Managers, Supervisors and Scheduler

• Ensuring key performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved, including compliance, service and financial targets

• Ensuring compliance with statutory and Company safety standards

About You

• 5+ years transport management experience in a multi-site environment

• Good working knowledge of the fuel distribution sector

• An effective communicator at all levels with the personal motivation and confidence to have a positive impact throughout the group

• Significant experience of developing management teams within a similar logistics operation would be desirable

• Professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation

• Confident Manager, skilled at setting clear objectives and motivating teams

• Highly tolerant of change, being able to work with an evolving organisation

• Able to thrive in a highly competitive and demanding environment

• Able to work efficiently across the business and functional boundaries

• Commercially focused

• Quality orientated and customer service driven

• National/International CPC holder (Essential)
