Hybrid working is potentially available, depending on the area and manager. An apprenticeship with JLR introduces you to automotive innovation that you will be able to experience first-hand – and one that is always looking to tomorrow and beyond.

Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Programme (APEP) Degree Apprenticeship

Our Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Programme Degree Apprenticeship is aimed at those with a passion for learning and innovation.

We’re reimagining the future of automotive, refining the quality of our combustion engines and expanding into electrification. As an Applied Professional Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will become a multi-disciplinary engineer, developing digital technology solutions for modern luxury vehicles that are renowned for their desirability and performance.
Manufacturing pathway

Manufacturing is at the very heart of JLR, with thousands of vehicles being produced every day across our production facilities. With a blend of hands-on experience and qualifications you will work on projects that are fundamental to our global success, providing the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing.
Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME)

Our GME team supports the projects and innovation that enables our JLR Reimagine Strategy across our global locations. Join us and you will be responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of manufacturing facilities and processes to build the modern luxury vehicles of the future. You will be working with stakeholders across our enterprise including product engineering, procurement and manufacturing operations to implement new products, processes and equipment whilst driving future technology development.
Dependant on the team you join you could get involved in activities such as working with digital toolsets and systems to leverage VR and digitalisation to bring products and processes to life, work alongside colleagues in the wider industrial operations chapter (procurement, supply chain & manufacturing) as well as interfacing with the product development teams ensuring the product is designed to meet bill of process standards and requirements and deliver enterprise KPI's on Quality, cost & time to market.
Apprentices may also work to provide advice on feasibility for joining technologies, ensuring we deliver a capable process into a production facility. You will learn to develop your expertise in joining to support teams with suitable solutions for equipment as well as joining performance.
If you enjoy problem solving and being at the heart of making things happen then our GME roles give you the opportunity to work throughout the end-to-end product lifecycle, with multiple stakeholders internally and externally, and managing large capital investment change into our plants. Quickly gaining real-world experience in process and industrial engineering, you will play a key role in transforming our brands and develop as a fully rounded automotive manufacturing engineer.
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will study for a BEng in Applied Professional Engineering with the University of Warwick (WMG).
Over the first three years of your Apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as an engineering professional. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will
These modules are taught in blocks throughout the academic year by Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), a key part of the University of Warwick. You will benefit from a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online, and enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.
Please note during your apprenticeship you will be expected to attend a number of face-to-face block weeks in person at the University of Warwick based within the West Midlands. In your final year, you will undertake a work-based project that also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career with JLR.
You will need to have achieved GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 or higher plus three additional GCSEs at level 5 (C) or higher, to include one STEM subject.

Our 2024 apprenticeship programme salary is £24,480. You’ll also enjoy a generous holiday allowance, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, an excellent pension scheme and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.
