There will be a need to work outside of the normal office hours occasionally, but this can be remotely (from your home) and of course, this time will be recognised and rewarded.
As a Senior SQL Database Administrator, you will provide ongoing delivery and support for well-recognised clients worldwide. You will be communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational colleagues to ensure database integrity, security, and performance. Identifying SQL database/instance performance optimisations.
Performing SQL Server patching and support customer release deployment activities and upgrades.
Writing database & client documentation, including procedures and definitions for customer environment specifics.
Ensuring that database maintenance procedures are functioning correctly.
Carrying out capacity planning and provisioning of SQL Server instances or databases.
Managing the HA and DR aspects of SQL Server.
Acting as level 3 support for the DBA team and available for 24x7 coverage.

Experience working in SQL Server Production Environments and managing critical situations.
~ Experience working with SQL Server FCI & AlwaysON , troubleshooting & configuration.
~ Experience and troubleshooting backups, restore and database maintenance activities.
~ Understanding query tuning concepts and identifying performance bottlenecks.
~ Understanding the SQL Server setup, storage and best practices.
~ Knowledge of the SQL Server data structures.
~ Knowledge of the SQL Server architecture and database design/layout.
~ Strong written and spoken English.
~ Ability to identify opportunities and issues in SQL Server environments.
~ Ability to help plan tasks for less experienced team members and to support and mentor


Experience working with Azure SQL Databases and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Basic concepts of Azure DevOps.
Experience of other databases including but not limited to CosmosDB, Postgres, MySQL
Experience of SQL Server Migrations to the public cloud
