About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our team at Telefónica Tech UK&I (Data & AI). As a key member of our Database Administration team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality database services to our clients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Management: Establish access needs and security requirements for users, manage database security, and ensure data integrity.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and implement SQL database/instance performance optimizations to ensure optimal database performance.
  • Database Maintenance: Perform regular database maintenance procedures, including backups, restores, and database maintenance activities.
  • Capacity Planning: Plan and provision SQL Server instances or databases to meet business needs.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify cost optimization opportunities for clients and implement cost-saving measures.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Manage HA and DR aspects of SQL Server to ensure business continuity.
  • Custom Solutions: Provide custom solutions to clients and identify client needs.
  • Level 3 Support: Act as level 3 support for the DBA team and provide 24x7 coverage.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience working in similar roles, with experience working in SQL Server Production Environments and managing critical situations.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL scripting, query tuning concepts, and database design/layout.
  • Soft Skills: Strong written and spoken English, problem-solving skills, and ability to think analytically.
Nice to Have
  • Azure Experience: Experience working with Azure SQL Databases and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
  • Azure Knowledge: Knowledge of Azure Infrastructure and Azure Backup Services.
  • Azure DevOps: Basic concepts of Azure DevOps.
