Learning Support Assistant Amersham

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs and you will be working closely with teachers and other support staff. You will provide tailored assistance to help students overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential

Role: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Amersham

Start Date: September

Duties vary but can include:

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during lessons, focusing on specific learning goals and targets.
  • Assist students with accessing learning materials, understanding instructions, and completing tasks to the best of their abilities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, keeping accurate records and reporting back to the SENCO and teachers as required.
  • Support students with social and emotional development, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with external professionals, such as educational psychologists or speech therapists, to ensure holistic support for students with complex needs

To register for supply work, you MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid DBS or the willingness to obtain one
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant (Unqualified then you are still welcome to apply)
  • Passion for education, supporting and developing a student s education
  • Commutable to and from Amersham
