Our client who is a leader in the retail sector, is looking to recruit a Senior Internal Communications Manager. This is on a contract basis between 3 and 6 months and paying up to £675 inside of IR35. They’re based in Central London, but you would only be expected to attend a maximum of once per week (there is some flexibility on this). This role will work closely with the Head of Internal Communications, one other Senior Manager and one Internal Communications Executive. You’ll play a leading role in developing and leading on a range of internal comms projects and programmes, campaigns and content that bring our clients vision and strategic priorities to life across the business, joining the dots between strategy and delivery. What is expected of the Senior Internal Communications Manager?

  • Co-develop our annual communications strategy, approach and plan, aligned to our clients business and engagement priorities and deliver that plan.
  • Support the Head of Internal Communications and other Senior Internal Communications Manager to provide direct support to members in engaging with their teams as required.
  • Support members on strategic communications and campaigns where influence and targeting of messages is necessary to be owned.
  • Play a leading role for internal events that engage and inform colleagues.
  • Keeping channels and platforms up to date (e.g. with relevant stories and content)
  • Create strategic communications that bring group and local campaigns to life and resonate with our audiences.
  • Manage the production of content and assets to a consistently high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Work with the Head of Internal Communications and other team members to design communications plans, material and techniques that enable our client to connect with remote teams and partners.
  • Create strategic materials for leaders to share with their teams
  • Write short stories, news updates, messages where relevant to be shared across the group.
  • Contribute to maintaining and updating the communications planning tool.
  • Regularly meet with others involved with internal communications across the Group to ensure good visibility of plans and collaboration with others.
  • Generate insights into the reach and impact of communications activity and campaigns delivered through our client’s channels and tools.
  • Support the development of external communications including social media posts, trade publication media releases and website updates as required.
What we look for in a Senior Internal Communications Manager?
  • Exceptional communicator and leader, who writes brilliantly and builds and maintains strong relationship with stakeholders.
  • Exceptional planning and project management skills. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Experience of working in a busy team and managing multiple deadlines.
  • Experience delivering demonstrably high impact campaign approaches, plans and content.
  • Demonstrable excellent understanding of channels (for example Intranet vs email vs Meta’s Workplace) and how best to use and adapt them to engage both corporate and customer facing colleagues.
  • Experience working in a blended internal/communications team (ideally with some external communications or PR experience).
  • Open minded, innovative and able to demonstrate a curiosity for new developments.
  • A team player who works collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative.
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix environment.
