About the Role
St Luke's Hospice are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a people and payroll officer to provide maternity cover for a fixed period of 12 months, on a part time basis for 25 hours per week. This role is crucial for managing payroll and benefits data, processing payroll, and supporting our managers.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Processing payroll on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy in line with agreed timescales.
- Handling payroll queries and resolving discrepancies.
- Ensuring proactive and timely management of employee relation matters by providing consistent advice. Advising & supporting managers on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, to increase their capability in leading high performing teams and to ensure the consistent application of policies.
- Maintaining & updating employee records, including pension membership, payroll adjustments, timesheets, mileage & expense claims etc.
- Supporting colleagues in the team with complex employee relations cases.
- Leading on the production of all payroll & pension related reports on a monthly, quarterly & annual basis.
- Liaising with payroll & pension providers to support accurate Auto-enrolment, whilst maintaining & updating records as required.
- Administering employee benefits programmes & addressing any related queries.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements & regulations.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports related to payroll & HR metrics.
- Collaborating with HR & Finance departments to enhance processes and procedures.
About the Candidate
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience in payroll and HR administration.
- Experience providing advice and guidance to managers and colleagues on a range of people management topics, policies, processes, and procedures related to all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
- Experience of managing varied casework and employee relation cases.
- Strong proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of current payroll legislation and best practices (desirable).
