Main Duties of the JobThe post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, including:
- Surgery consultations and queries
- Triaging
- Visiting patients at home
- Handling emergencies
- Telephone consultations
- Signing repeat prescriptions
- Managing patient test results, medical reports, and examinations
- Writing referral letters and correspondence
- Recording clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting
- Attending training, Practice Meetings, and events where appropriate
We are a very friendly rural practice with an expanding list size, currently 5300. Great Staughton is located five miles from St Neots with excellent transport links to the A1/A14. We were rated first for patient experience in the 2022/2023 GP Patient Survey and we have an excellent reputation.
Our team comprises one GP partner, two SGPs, one ANP, one Clinical Pharmacist, two PNs, and one HCA. We also have a visiting Midwife, Clinical Pharmacist, Social Prescriber, First Contact Physiotherapist, and PRISM. We are supported by a full management and administration team, and are a Dispensing and Systmone practice.
We regularly welcome medical students from Cambridge University and other universities including Brighton and UEA.
We are high QOF achievers and have a daily governance meeting, weekly clinical meetings, and protected admin time.

Job ResponsibilitiesWork as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. The post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contribute to the effective management of the practice, and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
