Mammographer - Breast Screening - Band 6
An opportunity has arisen for full or part time qualified mammographers, already in possession of a Society of Radiographers, NHSBSP approved certificate of mammography, to join the team in Lincolnshire. Your application will not be considered at this time if you do not hold this qualification.
The Lincolnshire Breast Screening Service serves a population of approximately 100,000 women aged between 50 and 71 years. The service has 3 static units (Boston, Lincoln and Grantham) plus 2 mobile units which rotate through 12 sites across Lincolnshire.
Diagnostic breast imaging services are also provided from Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.
The breast imaging service currently has five Siemens Inspiration Digital Mammography units and three new Hologic Dimensions units with tomosynthesis and stereo biopsy capabilities. The Trust is supported by GE PACS and is part of the EMRAD consortium.
The post holder will be expected to have the ability to travel across the county when required in the provision of the Trust wide service. A full, valid UK driving licence is therefore essential as our mobile sites are remote and alternative travel options are not easily accessible here in rural Lincolnshire. In order to support transport requirements, we have departmental pool cars for staff to use for work purposes.
Previous candidates need not apply.
The successful applicant will be reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic with good organisational and communication skills. The ability to integrate well with the existing team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement is essential. A flexible attitude to work is essential.
Due to the nature of the work, mammography posts have a gender protected character. This is a genuine occupational requirement and as a result this post is exempt under Schedule 9 Part1 of the Equality Act 2010 About us Our Trust is situated in the beautiful county of Lincolnshire and is one of the biggest acute hospital trusts in England, serving a population of more than 700,000 people. We provide acute and specialist services to people in Lincolnshire and neighbouring counties. We have an annual income of 643 million (20/21) and we employ nearly 8,500 people.
Our Board have recently agreed a new vision statement - Outstanding Care Personally Delivered - stating their ambition for our Trust to be among the best.
We also have a five year Integrated Improvement Plan setting out how we will achieve our strategic objectives, for patients, services, people and partners, the last recognising that our future success depends on our ability to ensure the Lincolnshire healthcare system is successful in achieving its ambition to help people live healthier lives and provide care closer to where people live.
Our latest CQC report increased our ratings for being effective and well-led from 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good'. Our rating for caring remained as 'Good'.
This is in recognition of the huge amount of work that our amazing staff have done to improve the quality of care for our patients in recent years.
We are committed to helping our staff balance their work and home lives and ensure they feel supported, valued and appreciated Job description Job responsibilities What should you do next?
