VACANCY -BAND 6 PHYSIOTHERAPIST- Orthopaedics

Permanent Position ( hours a week)

Do not miss out on this rare opportunity to join our acute orthopaedic team as a senior static physiotherapist. You will be expected to provide a high standard of Physiotherapy to orthopaedic and trauma inpatients wards, working in a blended physiotherapy and occupational therapy team.

To be an active member of the 7 day service to the patients at Lincoln Hospital, this includes bank holidays and on- call cover.

To perform advance and detailed assessments with a diverse range of patients. Manage complex conditions, providing a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To hold own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Support junior and assistant staff within the team.

Supervision to take the form of regular training and peer review. Access to advice and support available at all times from a senior physiotherapist.

Assist in the supervision of Physiotherapy students.

Complete appraisal of Band 5 Physiotherapists and physiotherapy staff.

Undertake evidence based audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice. Make recommendations to team leader. There may be future scope within this role to work with partner organisations in the field of oncology.

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting a Band 6 physiotherapist to be based at Lincoln Hospital. The successful applicant will join the Physiotherapy team, working with orthopaedic inpatient team.

A transitional post may be offered for a Band 5, with less than 18 months experience. They will remain as a band 5 until appropriate level of competency is achieved and then will be upgraded to a Band 6.

You will be working within the Hospital wards in a 71 member strong team that constantly sets and achieves high standards.

Our team is highly focussed on supporting your development and we work hard to ensure you will receive 1:1 supervision, regular training/peer support.

All physiotherapists benefit from protected CPD time, as well as the opportunity to attend locally organised courses run by nationally accredited tutors.

The post will be full time and will work as part of a 7-day service, including respiratory on-call.

All applicants must have a current HCPC registration.

Qualifications

Essential

Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy State registration Evidence of maintained CPD in a portfolio including attendance at relevant post graduate courses

Desirable

Membership of the CSP Involvement in a special interest group

Experience

Essential

Experience as a Physiotherapist in a variety of clinical areas including ortho, general medicine, respiratory and neurology. Experience of working as part of a team/ MDT Good theoretical knowledge with working knowledge of a broad range of conditions Student or assistant supervision, contributing to education

Desirable

Knowledge of the workings of the community services and intermediate care services Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues

Skills

Essential

Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role Understanding clinical governance & its implications for the service Excellent verbal, non verbal and written skills along with clear logical presentation skills Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise in a timely and effective manner Ability to cope with working in a moderately demanding environment with aggressive and emotional people
