The Global Head of Regulatory & EMEA Total Rewardsis responsible for compliance with both global regulatory remunerationrequirements. This role will work and partner directly with theControl Functions, business/functional Senior Management, governancebodies, HR functions and Global and Executive Compensation to ensurecompliance with regulations. Responsible for providing documents, orinput into documents, for local remuneration committees or thecorporate Human Capital and Compensation Committee in partnership withExecutive Compensation. Responsible for the regional administration,analysis, development and implementation of cost effectivecompensation policies and programs in EMEA. The role will manage ateam tasked with global regulatory compensation and EMEA total rewardsconsulting.
Manages the Regulatory Compensation and EMEA team
Participates indeveloping the business unit strategic plan and sets goals andpriorities based on the direction set for the unit. Monitors andmaintains knowledge and understanding of global remunerationregulations via external forums, consultant interaction, peernetworks, internal compliance teams with a view toward impact toNorthern Trust and its legal entities globally
Liaises with the Conduct Office andControl Functions in their role of identifying regulated roles (e.g.EMEA Material Risk Takers (MRTs), US Covered Employees).
Analyzes and advises on governance matters and potential riskfor global projects and design work within the global rewardsfunction; develop regulatory strategies and implementation plans fornew programs in partnership with the regional / global rewards teams,oversees the annual compensation planning process from a regulatorycompensation perspective, ensuring incentive budgets, allocations andrecommendations are compliant with the appropriate remuneration codes.
Performs analysis on effectiveness andcompetitiveness of existing regulatory compensation programs andmodels potential impact of alternatives
Contributes to broader policies and processes which may sit outside ofthe HR/Compensation teams e.g., recoupment/malus/claw-back policy.
Responsible for mandatory regulatory reportingwith regard to local regulatory requirements
Oversees preparation of documentation and reports specific toregulatory compensation matters for the various governance bodymeetings such as the Human Capital and Compensation Committee (HCCC),EMEA Remuneration Governance Group (ERGG) and Remuneration Committees
Develops globally consistent educational andtraining materials to communicate compliance and regulatoryinformation ensure that senior management, HR, local governance groupsand those impacted by the regulations have a thorough understanding ofthe rules and their implications
Alignscompensation approaches with business needs and regulatoryrestrictions, developing creative solutions for talent acquisition andretention. Contributes topolicy and process guidelines relating to EMEA guarantees, buy-outs,retention awards and recognition awards, ensuring they comply withexternal regulations
Contributes to theRegulatory Risk Rating Review process globally and ensures localregulatory requirements are met
10 or more years ofexperience in regulatory compensation and/or related compensationdisciplines in financial services
Demonstrated proficiency via extensive technical and businessknowledge and functional expertise of regulatory reward and pay equityagenda
Ability to interpret and apply regulatorylegislation to applicable policies and procedures
Experience with conducting presentations to clients, peers and/orsenior management related to compensation materials 
Pastexperience demonstrating strong change management and projectmanagement skills
Ability to solve highly complexproblems through quantitative and qualitative analysis in a team-basedenvironment
Highly proficient in Excel, Word, andPowerPoint
