A unique opportunity to work with a brand new concept coming to the High Street. We are looking for a Bar Manager to work in the new Family Entertainment Centre coming to Reading. With bar and food alongside a fantastic amusement arcade, Karaoke, Pool, Augmented Reality Darts, VR and much more. You must have the following skills.


1. Staff Management

  • Hiring and Training: Recruiting staff, providing training on customer service, bar operations, and safety.
  • Scheduling: Creating staff schedules, ensuring the bar is adequately staffed during peak hours.
  • Supervision: Overseeing the daily work of bartenders, servers, and other staff, providing guidance and support.

2. Customer Service

  • Ensuring Satisfaction: Ensuring customers have a positive experience, handling complaints and feedback efficiently.
  • Promoting a Friendly Atmosphere: Creating a welcoming environment, often interacting with regular patrons to build relationships.

3. Inventory Management

  • Stock Control: Monitoring stock levels of beverages and supplies, ordering new stock as needed.
  • Supplier Relations: Negotiating with suppliers for better deals and managing deliveries.
  • Waste Management: Minimising waste and ensuring efficient use of resources.

4. Financial Management

  • Budgeting: Managing the bar’s budget, controlling costs, and maximizing profits.
  • Cash Handling: Overseeing cash flow, ensuring proper handling of cash, and reconciling accounts.
  • Pricing: Setting drink prices competitively while ensuring profitability.

5. Health and Safety Compliance

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the bar complies with local licensing laws, health regulations, and safety standards.
  • Training: Providing staff with training on health and safety practices, including responsible alcohol service.
  • Inspections: Preparing for and managing health and safety inspections.

6. Event Planning and Marketing

  • Promotions: Planning and executing events, promotions, and special offers to attract customers.
  • Social Media Management: Managing the bar’s online presence, including social media and online reviews.
  • Community Engagement: Engaging with the local community, possibly collaborating with other businesses or participating in local events.

7. Operational Management

  • Daily Operations: Ensuring the bar runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance of bar equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
  • Vendor Relations: Managing relationships with vendors for equipment, supplies, and services.

8. Crisis Management

  • Handling Emergencies: Being prepared to manage emergencies, such as unruly customers, accidents, or equipment failure.
  • Conflict Resolution: Dealing with conflicts between staff or with customers effectively.

9. Reporting

  • Performance Reports: Preparing reports on sales, staff performance, and other key metrics for upper management.
  • Trend Analysis: Monitoring industry trends and customer preferences to keep the bar competitive.

10. Innovation and Improvement

  • Menu Development: Innovating drink menus, possibly creating signature cocktails, and updating offerings based on trends and customer preferences.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluating and improving bar operations, customer service, and overall profitability.
  • Leading from the front: This is a hands on role, you will be expected to lead from the front spending time front of house. This is not for you if you like sitting in the office
