Escape Recruitment Services Commercial Division are recruiting for our client, a global Manufacturing Supply Chain organisation with a number of sites based in Scotland. We are looking to recruit a Corporate Legal Counsel for their inhouse Legal team on an interim basis estimated to last minimum 4 months, possibly longer.


Responsibilities Include

  • Work closely and provide advice and guidance to the inhouse Procurement team with commercial high value contracts.
  • Provide legal support on various issues including reputation risks, Group litigation or regulatory issues etc.
  • Review and draft legal commercial contracts.
  • Ensure Procurement team have information, knowledge and advice to ensure they are equipped to effectively negotiate commercial contract terms and conditions.
  • Business partnership, build strong relationships with Stakeholders to ensure they are consistent in consulting with the inhouse Legal team.
  • Liaise and develop relationships with external Lawyers, seek additional advice and guidance as required.
  • Working as part of the inhouse Legal team to ensure consistent support if provided to the business, functional capability is developed, and best practice and ways of working are embedded with litigation related legal issues.
  • Provide support to the wider Legal team, including more junior colleagues and developing templates and tools to improve internal processes and improvements.


Background Required

  • Qualified Lawyer, admitted to practice in Scotland.
  • Post qualification experience in inhouse commercial contract management.
  • Core understanding of compliance risks, IP, antitrust, data privacy laws and knowing when and how to engage specialist partners.
  • Able to foresee and assess legal, reputational, operational and strategic risks, communicate such risks and enable the company to mitigate effectively.
  • Commercial pragmatic approach with a solutions mindset
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to express legal concepts in clear and practical manner to the wider business.
  • Able to build strong relationships with internal and external Stakeholders.
