In-House Solicitor for Legal and Corporate Governance

Role Overview
We are seeking a committed solicitor to become a part of the in-house legal team focused on corporate governance at the SSSC. In this role, you will offer specialized legal counsel and support to various departments within the organization on a diverse array of governance issues. Your responsibilities will include interpreting and advising on our legislative framework as well as the regulations that govern public bodies and organizations.
The SSSC is a forward-thinking and ambitious entity, and our legal team plays a crucial role in facilitating new initiatives, ensuring that the work remains dynamic and engaging.
Your contributions will be vital in upholding high governance standards within the SSSC, and you will have the chance to enhance your skill set by participating in policy formulation, advising on risk management, and supporting significant corporate projects.
It is important to note that our in-house legal team operates separately from the Fitness to Practise team, which is dedicated to investigating and presenting fitness to practise cases.

- Proven experience in providing legal guidance to clients and assisting them in making informed, practical decisions.

- Strong organizational skills to manage and advance your own workload.
- Flexibility and eagerness to learn.
Given the diverse nature of the legal work we handle, we appreciate an in-house team with varied legal backgrounds. Previous public sector experience is not a prerequisite. This position may appeal to solicitors from different sectors, such as private practice, who are interested in transitioning their skills to an in-house environment. Many of your essential skills are transferable, and your experience in managing client relationships will be beneficial in this role, without the pressure of meeting fee targets.
