The charity are based in Sheffield and is committed to ensuring bridging the social mobility gap. As part of their ongoing mission, they are now looking for a dynamic and assured Business Development Director who thrives in a fast-paced, values-led, and mission-focused environment.

This opportunity will see you developing new relationships and establishing new partnerships from corporates, local and central government, trusts and foundations.

You will spearhead the expansion of new partnerships for the charity to ensure continual growth of investment and donations. You will be responsible for securing partnerships and investment in millions to help the charity continue their vital work.

You will be excellent in opening doors, generating leads, closing deals, and bringing people with you. An experienced, empowering leader, you will be committed to motivating and managing an excellent team of highly skills Business Development professionals.

This role would ideally suit a highly skilled Business Development professional with demonstrable experience in securing high-worth corporate partnerships. A background in the charity sector would be preferable but not essential, as we are keen to speak with individuals who can bring fresh and innovative ideas also.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Securing investment to deliver on annual income generation targets (£6m-7m per year).
  • You will lead and inspire a team of motivated Business Development professionals.
  • You will be responsible for effective stewardship of strategic partnerships and major supporters.
  • You will be responsible for securing a strong pipeline of partnerships with large businesses and public sector organisations.
  • You will become an expert ambassador of the charity, securing opportunities, speaking to a range of audiences to meet decision makers and potential funders.
  • Leading, managing and motivating others You will lead and motivate your team to deliver against stretch objectives, learn and develop, and work collaboratively and flexibly, in line with our values.
  • You will be responsible for specific Business Plan and Team Plan objectives and key results, and supporting other owners to ensure delivery of the whole plan.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrable experience in a senior Business Development role, securing high value corporate partnerships.
  • Prior managerial experience, leading and developing a Business Development and/or Fundraising team.
  • A proactive and driven approach to securing new partnerships, a self-starter passionate about securing new investments for a great cause.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to act as a champion and ambassador for the charity.
  • An excellent relationship-builder, able to develop longstanding beneficial partnerships resulting in high value income generation.
  • An innovative mindset with the ability to provide fresh ideas for securing new investments.
