The Team

XPS Group IT provides IT services to all employees in of our offices located across the UK and Ireland. We operate an extensive in-house IT services function including 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support, Cyber Security Services, Application Support and Development.


Over the next few years we will be introducing new reporting services to the wider business and our clients by collating data from disparate systems across all business functions into centralized services. Successful candidates will be part of this exciting new development and as such can influence the service tools and delivery methods employed.



The Role

As a Power BI Developer with XPS you will:

  • To champion the implementation and delivery of powerful reporting functionality in the business.
  • Designing and developing PBI reports and dashboards.
  • Work alongside data engineers and specialists to help prepare prescriptive and predictive data models for reporting against.
  • Collaborate with various business stakeholders, both IT professional and business SMEs, in the development of class leading solutions.
  • Ensuring strong data accuracy in all deliveries.
  • Evaluate and translate business needs and align these to data systems that drive business intelligence and efficiencies.
  • Training users so they can get the best out of all reports and dashboards provided.
  • Maintain existing and developed solution to ensure they deliver the best experience for end users.
  • Work alongside our IT specialist teams to ensure data security is respected.
  • Stay updated in all PBI features and developments to ensure we remain focused on relevant services.


Your profile

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience as a Power BI engineer / developer / report writer with a minimum of two years’ experience in the field.
  • Knowledge of SQL for database querying and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating custom calculations in Power BI is crucial.
  • Designing and developing PBI reports and dashboards, suitable data models, and developing visualizations that provide actionable insights.
  • Whilst not a pre-requisite, knowledge and experience in the financial services industries would be advantageous.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders such as business analysts, project managers, application developers and data engineers.
  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes necessary with a good understanding of the Power Quary language (M).
  • Good data management by ensuring data sets are clean , accurate and ready for analysis.
  • Ability to work with the wider infrastructure team to manage and maintain the PBI environment.
  • Ensuring data security is well considered in any solution, implementing appropriate access controls and data protection measures.
  • Keen to continually learn and ensure that solution, old and new, are kept technologically relevant and following best practices and patterns.
  • Familiar with data modelling concepts and be able to create effective data models to support reporting needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are necessary that lead to innovative solutions of complex data-related problems.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills able to explain complex data in a simple way to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to train end-users on how to use dashboards and reports so they can interpret the data and make data driven decisions.
  • Good teamworking ethic willing to help other team members deliver shared goals.
