Procurement Officer

Vickerstock are proud to be partnering with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council to recruit a Procurement Officer. This exciting opportunity is based in the Council offices in Newry or Downpatrick, with the role spanning across the district. As a Procurement Officer, you will report to the Procurement Manager, taking responsibility for the procurement of goods and services for the Council while ensuring value for money, compliance with regulations, and effective service delivery. Key Responsibilities: Manage procurement risks and advise on best practices. Oversee e-Procurement transactions and ensure policy adherence. Provide procurement advice and maintain relationships with suppliers. Conduct market research, evaluate tenders, and prepare reports. Manage the Council's fuel stock and liaise with internal departments on logistics. Ensure compliance with UK and EU procurement regulations. Essential Criteria: A minimum of a Level 4 qualification (e.g., HNC) or 2 years' experience in procurement. Proven experience in producing tender documents and adhering to policies. Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. Ability to analyse data and produce management reports.
