Location/Work Style: Hook, Hampshire, UK (1 day WFH, 4 days in the office)

Introduction
Sales Enablers Inc. is thrilled to be recruiting for our client, a prominent player in the civil engineering solutions space, as they seek a Technical Sales Manager to join their team in this newly restructured role. This role has been crafted to bring a fresh perspective to their sales approach and hands-on relationship-building. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical insight and sales acumen, and the confidence to work autonomously as an individual contributor (IC) while contributing to the evolution of sales methodologies. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned sales professional with a technical background, who is eager to shape the sales process and drive impactful change in close collaboration with the Head of Sales.
Purpose of the Role
As the Technical Sales Manager, you will play a critical role in developing and managing relationships with both new and existing clients. This role requires a proactive individual with experience in customer-facing sales, event participation, and account management to support long-term business growth. Familiarity with sales methodologies, such as the Challenger Methodology, will be advantageous. You will concentrate on mining current accounts while pursuing strategic new business opportunities. Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you’ll also work closely with them to help shape the team’s processes, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively manage and develop relationships with direct customers and agents within the assigned territory.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, respond to inbound enquiries, and convert them into sales.
- Generate, review, and deliver proposals, pricing information, and technical support to customers within the defined deadlines.
- Use technical expertise to articulate product benefits and position the company’s solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Travel nationally and internationally within the designated region to visit clients, agents, and industry events, representing the company and promoting its technical offerings.
- Stay updated on geotechnical industry trends, new product developments, and competitor activities to inform sales strategies.
- Assist in the technical development of the sales process by improving product knowledge within the sales team and refining technical sales tools and presentations.
- Maintain CRM records to track opportunities, leads, and customer interactions accurately.
- Prepare regular sales reports, updates on performance against targets, and feedback on market conditions.
- Ensure all sales documentation, commercial contracts, and pricing proposals comply with company policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in a technical sales or sales management role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and drive a sales team to meet targets.
- Proven ability to sell complex technical products, with the ability to communicate and position technical solutions to a range of audiences.
- Excellent organisational, administrative, and multitasking abilities to manage both team oversight and individual sales responsibilities.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, and experience handling contracts and negotiations.
- Experience with CRM systems
- The ability to travel internationally and nationally to meet customers and attend industry events.
Desirable:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the geotechnical testing industry and equipment is an advantage.
- Willingness to grow the role into one where you mentor and coach a team under you.
