Job title: UWS UK Head of Training
Location: Templecombe or Cheadle
This role will provide the overall strategic direction and leadership with accountability for ensuring that a portfolio of Training Services and related projects are delivered to cost, schedule and quality. The role will initially shape the strategy, align the existing and near term offers and delivery teams and then collate these into a portfolio. This role will evolve to manage an expanding portfolio of work, with bid and project teams, and sales and marketing.

Key responsibilities:
Apply leadership and direction to ensure the successful delivery of Training projects and work packages across Mine Warfare, Anti-Submarine warfare and the Services sectors. This includes the following;
- Assume ultimate accountability for the delivery of the Training projects and work packages programmes and associated management and financial reporting.
- Provide strategic organisational, market and business context to drive the successful outcomes of the projects.
- Develop a strong and engaged team ethos focused on successful delivery with a "One Thales" approach.
- Be the overall point of reference to ensure that key relationships are being effectively managed and that vital customer, industry and business knowledge and networks are being effectively utilised to deliver the projects.
- Provide overall strategic governance for the effective use of Thales project management processes.
About you:
- Significant management experience in large complex, demanding, multi-entity, multi-company, international programme in the maritime naval domain.
- Educated to degree level in a discipline that is compatible with the requirements of Project Management and the technical understanding to deliver sensitive maritime projects.
- Professional accreditation with the Association for Project Management (or an equivalent level of professional experience).
- The ability to adapt leadership style to achieve the desired results from interactions with team members and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and an ability to successfully lead teams.
- The ability to provide strategic overview and direction to drive the successful delivery of projects across complex multi-faceted organisational and stakeholder boundaries.
- Excellent professional project management knowledge and the ability to flow down successful project management strategies in a complex and multi-faceted organisation.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers and other parts of the business.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with written presentation and report writing skills.
- Commercial, financial and business acumen.
- A positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
- The ability to adapt personal style of management and communication to achieve the desired results from interactions with team members and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the warship technical domain including naval systems integration, combat systems and the ability to interface with a ship building entity.
Financial / Budgetary Responsibility:
- Growing to ~£120M of Projects with full accountability of keeping Project on time to cost.
This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years' residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
