Head of Content - Digital Marketing Agency

We are seeking a Head of Content to lead this agency’s team of content creators. The Head of Content will establish, evolve, and maintain the content marketing programme at the agency to create a predictable, efficient, and scalable engine for content ideation, development, and execution; ensuring the content programs drive organic growth for the agency across all types of content, from blog posts and webinars to social media, communications and landing pages.


You will also develop and deliver strategies that both offer outstanding content to clients and drives growth. This role requires cross-functional collaboration, clear, action-oriented communication, and an ability to influence results and secure new business.


Key accountabilities:

  • Research and understand the overall market opportunity and the target audiences for various activities, building personas to help direct conversations and ease communication with each audience
  • Identify the active players in a certain industry, either for a client or for the agency itself and clearly differentiate strengths, weaknesses, threats, and areas for opportunity
  • Write messaging documentation that addresses a business’s overall goals, target audiences (i.e., personas), and competitive advantage(s) to provide clear themes and value propositions for the client or agency to use across communications
  • Develop an overall strategy, objectives, and supporting tactics to satisfy audiences’ needs across multiple channels on a specific timeline. Map objectives to support business objectives at both a team and individual level
  • Gather, analyse, and report on data to inform future decisions at a program level rather than individual assets. Ideate, test, and refine hypotheses to continually improve processes, strategies, tactics, and activities
  • Stay abreast of company, audience, industry, and overall trends to inform future strategy and tactics to make the most impact and continuously improve content quality and relevance
  • Identify opportunities for the agency to offer content services that align with business goals and can be delivered by the team
  • Work in collaboration to develop and present proposals to clients for content services, including content strategy, production, and optimisation
  • Evaluate contracts to ensure content services are profitable for the agency and reasonable for the scope of the project(s)
  • Provide Client Service and Account Management support
  • Develop effective Campaign Strategies and coach the team on best practice
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of core advanced marketing concepts

Key Attributes:

  • A strategic thinker, the Head of Content will have the ability to translate business goals into actionable content plans
  • Collaborative and communicative, the ideal candidate will have a strong ability to build relationships across departments and with stakeholders
  • With a passion for staying updated with the latest content and industry trends the ideal candidate will also be proactive and adaptable


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; a firm grasp of digital marketing and a clear understanding of what good looks like in terms effective content marketing programmes
  • Previous experience of having led the content team in a digital marketing agency or client-side (ideally 80/20 B2B/B2C), or if not then the ability to demonstrate the necessary marketing and leadership skills to do so
  • Highly technically literate with a proficiency in marketing software
  • 1st class written and verbal communication skills
