An exciting home furnishings brand, is seeking a talented and experienced Buying Director to join their team. As the Buying Director, you will be instrumental in shaping the product assortment and driving the brand's success in the ever-evolving home furnishings market. THIS ROLE WILL REQUIRE REGULAR TRAVEL.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive buying strategies for the home furnishings category, aligning with the company's goals and market trends.
  • Lead a team of buyers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and market opportunities to curate a compelling and profitable product assortment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring the highest quality products.
  • Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and identify potential gaps or opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as merchandising, marketing, and operations to ensure seamless coordination and alignment.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and customer feedback to optimize product assortment and drive sales growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, attend trade shows, and network with industry professionals to gain insights and explore new partnerships.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying process efficiencies and implementing best practices within the buying function.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Buying Director or in a similar leadership role within the home furnishings industry (Sofas, Beds, Cupboards, Tables).
  • Extensive knowledge of home furnishings trends, styles, and consumer preferences.
  • Creative and design, experience in developing furniture ranges
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and sourcing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and make data-driven buying decisions.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in merchandising software and Microsoft Office Suite.
