Waddesdon today represents a centre for excellence in the fields of arts and heritage, conservation and horticulture with a developing focus on sustainable environmental practice. This informs the wider activity of the Foundation which includes support of the cultural sector and environmental causes locally and across the UK.

The Role

The Finance Manager (FM) serves as a pivotal leader within the Finance Department at the Rothschild Foundation, a charitable Foundation with significant assets, based primarily at Waddesdon directly reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The position will deputise for the CFO when needed and have significant interface with other department heads and senior staff within the Foundation. The role requires the ability to manage a team as well as work independently. The ability to work accurately and under time pressure is paramount.

This is a replacement role with an excellent opportunity to add value to the business in order to assist with continued and sustained development.

Day to day duties will consist of:

  • Support the CFO in overseeing all financial functions across the 4 entities.
  • Provide proactive management accounting information and support strategic decision-making processes and risk management.
  • Advise the Executive Board on potential risks and opportunities.
  • Produce timely month-end management accounts and review with stakeholders.
  • Assist in forecasting and budget preparation.
  • Conduct variance analysis and review balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the Data Analyst to ensure accuracy in daily, weekly, monthly, and year-to-date analysis, and provide recommendations for PowerBI reporting improvements.
  • Assist in preparing three-year financial plans and any other required financial or business plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory year-end accounts and notes to accounts for all entities for audit purposes.
  • Liaise with auditors and assist in preparing tax computation workings and reviewing tax returns completed by auditors.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and legislation.
  • Establish and maintain company financial policies and procedures.
  • Line manage two management accountants, including absence and annual leave management, ensuring staff availability supports workload and deadlines.
  • Contribute to broader thinking on Finance Department development and workload planning with the CFO

Your Profile

You will be a Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years' experience in both management and financial accounting. Previous experience in a multi-entity business with consolidations will be looked on favourably as would experience in a Real Estate or Investment based business. You must be self-motivated, able to act on own initiative and be able to communicate at all levels. This is an excellent role where development will be available as the business continues to change and develop.

Salary and Benefits

The role of Finance Manager for The Rothschild Foundation in Waddesdon is offering a salary of £60-65K + Benefits and will be working on a hybrid basis in Waddesdon after a period of time in the office.
