Lead DevOps Engineer
  • Annual Salary: £39,591 (with additional pension contributions averaging 28%)
  • Location: Hybrid  or Remote
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead DevOps Engineer to join our Digital and Technology directorate. The ideal candidate will be customer and service-focused, with a keen eye on service availability, problem-solving, and root cause analysis. You will be leading a diverse team of engineers and have a significant impact on the operational strategy and tooling to support continuous delivery within our organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead technical operations and have direct input into the long-term operational strategy.
  • Coach and mentor IT professionals, and network with stakeholders to deliver improvements.
  • Ensure value delivery through improvement and automation of systems, including infrastructure, tooling, upgrade paths, and performance monitoring/alerting/tuning.
  • Work on maintenance, upgrades, automation, and service improvements to meet and exceed performance targets.
  • Play an integral part in the transformation of our digital services and culture.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in incident/problem resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with system software build and release, and automation of manual processes.
  • Demonstrable experience with Unix/Linux, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and database querying.
  • Proficiency in AWS, Java, Terraform, Concourse, Ansible, Docker, JSON, SQL, GIT, and similar technologies.
  • Excellent customer focus, communication, and networking skills.
  • Experience in leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced members.
