Overview of the Head of Test roleAbout this Role

One IPO services will provide the capability for IPO customers to apply for, manage and maintain their intellectual property from one single digital service regardless of the type of right they apply for , a trade mark, design or patent.� It will also allow the IPO to support the application process, carry out assessments and granting of rights and manage these rights through the same single platform.

To provide quality services to our customers both nationally and internationally systems need to be developed, improved, and maintained. You will have the opportunity to work on the latest cutting-edge cloud technologies, use modern delivery processes and work on innovative projects some including the use of AI and ML. Working alongside experts in their fields you will have the opportunity to make valuable contributions without compromising on quality.

You must be passionate about testing, learning new technologies and methodologies whilst delivering high quality IT services. In this role you will lead the Test profession by setting strategy, standards, improving our TMMi maturity level and supporting the development of all the Test Engineers both technically and professionally. Promote automation testing within the larger CI/CD model and encourage shift left thinking.� Working alongside the Cross Service Test Manger, Head of Development, Test Leads, and others you will ensure consistency quality of the test profession across delivery teams.

Person SpecificationUnderstanding of Enterprise scale systems and the roles of different types of testing play in ensuring they operate to an excellent standard.Extensive line management experience leading technical teamsDemonstrable experience of working with mainstream test automation frameworksDemonstratable experience of working with large cross service programmes or Transformation programmes.Experience with modern delivery models such as Scrum and Kanban.Experience of working within an iterative or DevOps environment.Experience in identification and tracking of risks and issues.Experience of knowledge sharing and mentoring junior members of the team.Working Style

This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to spend at least 20% of their time working onsite from one of our offices. This role is based in our Newport office.

The requirement for attendance at an office location can vary by role so we would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office.
