About the Role

Work within the Pre-Primary & Primary sector team to develop pedagogically appropriate content for Young Learner and their educators which meets the requirements of the Customer Value Proposition and is delivered to schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities in this role will cover:
  • Under the direction of the Portfolio Product Manager and Managing Editor, input into the Customer Value Proposition of 'value-add' differentiating components.
  • Under the direction of the Managing Editor, assist with market research at the idea/explore/validate stages of the product lifecycle to ensure that customer requirements are met.
  • Brief and oversee the work of in-house editors and external suppliers and carry out appropriate quality checks. Identify any risks and issues affecting delivery to agreed dates, communicate to colleagues, and work collaboratively to problem-solve and mitigate these risks and issues.
  • Under the direction of the Managing Editor and in conjunction with senior colleagues, specify products and manage their creation.
  • Brief and work with writers on major projects, taking responsibility for the overall development of content in order to maximize their educational effectiveness and appropriateness for the intended market. Manage and motivate writers through all stages of the writing process. Ensure that materials reflect research on pedagogy and language learning in all media and that products have been developed according to agreed briefs and specifications and market and customer needs.
  • Manage project schedules, coordinating with suppliers and with the cross-functional team to ensure that projects are published according to agreed specifications and publication dates. Identify, manage and communicate any risks to schedules.
  • Under the guidance of senior colleagues assist with the management of budgets as appropriate. Monitor and communicate potential over/underspend to senior colleagues, working together to problem-solve and mitigate risk.
  • Under the direction of senior colleagues assist with commissioning projects as requested and in accordance with agreed parameters.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments (Design, Digital, Production, etc.) on project requirements, and approve solutions to ensure they are appropriate and pedagogically effective.
  • Identify continuous improvement and innovation opportunities and work with colleagues to ensure that new processes, workflows, systems and lessons learned are implemented effectively.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:
  • Previous publishing experience developing educational products and teaching and learning content
  • Good knowledge of product development process, ideally within an educational publishing context
  • Understanding of the principles of English language learning and teaching
  • Understanding of educational teaching and learning requirements
  • Ability to speak and write English to a native-speaker level of fluency
