Westbank is an award-winning, Devon-based registered charity established in 1986, originally set up to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along with west bank of the River Exe. The organisation now works with communities and individuals across Devon.

We are looking for an energetic, creative and driven person to join our friendly Young Carers team. 

This service, embedded within Devon’s Early Help provision, will champion children and young people’s voice and engagement at every level of its delivery, including:

Awareness raising amongst partners to promote early identification and referral into the service; A countywide helpline, providing easy access to information and support; A team of support staff providing young carers needs-led assessments, transition assessments, trips/activities and time-limited one-to-one support.


Devon Carers is a service delivered by Westbank and is one of the largest and most successful carer’s services in the UK. Westbank is a well-established charity based in Exminster that aims to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of people in the local community, across Devon and beyond.

As a Young Carers Lead Practitioner you will: 

carry out needs-led assessments with young carers at a place and time suitable for them; provide one-to-one support for individual young carers and their families; provide relevant/specialist support to Young Carers Support Workers; raise awareness of young carers locally to ensure that more young carers are identified and supported.
