The primary objective of the Education Support Specialist Team is to deliver targeted assistance for individual children who struggle with school attendance. The team aims to support the child, their family, and the educational institution by fostering relationships, identifying obstacles to attendance, and formulating an intervention strategy that empowers all parties to take constructive steps.

The philosophy of the Education Support Specialist service is to achieve meaningful and enduring improvements and outcomes for children and young individuals with special educational needs and additional requirements across the region.

The role encompasses various areas across the region.

The Education Support Specialist team collaborates with other organizations to ensure that appropriate services are accessible for children and young individuals and their families when needed.

We aspire to attract and retain skilled individuals who share a vision of fostering an inclusive society where the significance of school attendance is recognized and appreciated.

These positions may necessitate some flexible evening and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities: Lead Education Support Specialist

Oversee the operational delivery of the service and provide line management for education support specialists and family support practitioners Contribute to the enhancement of the service, including onboarding, service assessment, data analysis, and training Attend and engage in pertinent meetings and panels, along with other relevant discussions. Work directly with children and families within a designated area and across the region as required by the service.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to cultivate relationships with children, young individuals, and their families, offering support and constructive feedback as necessary. Empathy, patience, strong risk assessment capabilities, and a clear understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals regarding school attendance are crucial.

The role involves working with children, young individuals, and families in their home and educational environments; therefore, excellent time management skills and an understanding of hybrid working are vital. Candidates must possess a full current driving license and have access to a vehicle for regular business purposes.
