The primary objective of the Education Support Specialist Team is to deliver targeted assistance for individual students who are experiencing difficulties with school attendance. The philosophy of the Education Support Specialist service is to attain positive and enduring enhancements and outcomes for children and young individuals with special educational needs and additional requirements across the region.

The role encompasses various areas within the region.

The Education Support Specialist team collaborates with other organizations to ensure that appropriate services are accessible for children and young individuals and their families at the necessary times.

We aspire to attract and retain skilled individuals who share a vision of fostering an inclusive community where the significance of school attendance is recognized and appreciated.

These roles may require some flexible evening and weekend commitments.

Key Responsibilities: Lead Education Support Specialist

Oversee the operational execution of the service and provide line management for education support specialists and family support practitioners Contribute to the advancement of the service, including onboarding, service assessment, data analysis, and training Attend and engage in pertinent meetings and panels, along with other relevant discussions. Work directly with children and families within a designated area and provide support across the region as needed.

Candidates must possess exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, and demonstrate the capacity to build rapport with children, young individuals, and their families, offering support and constructive feedback as necessary. Empathy, patience, strong risk assessment capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals regarding school attendance are essential.

The role involves working with children, young individuals, and families in their home and educational environments; therefore, excellent time management skills and an understanding of hybrid working practices are crucial. Applicants must hold a valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for regular business purposes.
