The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK�s largest producer of official statistics, covering a range of key economic, social, and demographic topics. These include measuring changes in the value of the UK economy, estimating the size, geographic distribution, and characteristics of the population, and providing indicators of price inflation, employment, earnings, crime, and migration.

The Population Statistics Directorate is responsible for producing population and migration estimates which meet the needs of our users.

Job description

You will work to meet the 3 main aims of the team; (1) support analytical teams to coordinate and disseminate statistics, (2) help our users to navigate and understand these statistics and (3) make links across topic areas to support senior leaders. You will be a key member of the Engagement and Customer Services team and will work across the functions of the team.

You will respond directly to customers and data users.

Responsibilities:�

Your responsibilities include:�

� � �Responding to customer enquiries, by email, letter and telephone; working with relevant internal teams to manage complex queries as required.
� � �Develop and maintain a knowledge of census outputs (1801-2021), migration statistics and other population data.
� � �Assisting with engagement activities.
� � �Provide administrative support to the team.

� � �Proven organisational skills with experience of prioritising work to deliver against set deadlines.
� � �Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of the business.
� � �Confident communicator with the ability to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls.
� � �Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with key internal and external stakeholders.
