Around since , SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

These services, together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living, inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

Contract: Fixed Term (12 months maternity cover)

About the Role

As part of the Public Affairs and Communications team and working with the Head of Public Affairs and Communications, the postholder will lead the delivery of our communications activity, in line with our strategic communications plan, with the intention of building our profile and managing our reputation.

The postholder will lead on the development, testing, implementation and evaluation of all our activity relating to news management and media relations, social and digital media, and brand and marketing.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and organised story-teller. Stories about the people we support, and the colleagues that support them, are at the heart of our communications. The Communications Manager has responsibility for all of our communications and needs to be comfortable across different types of work, including writing and pitching stories, crafting messages for social, and supporting colleagues to make best use of our brand in their work.

This is a role for someone who can lead and support a small team, has the skills to do the work well day to day, and the ability to think strategically about how we position the organisation.
