The Stakeholder & Community Manager reports to the Senior Stakeholder & Community Manager within the SPR Onshore Asset Management function.

The Stakeholder & Community Manager is responsible for managing stakeholder engagement for a portfolio of projects across their full project lifecycle (Development, Construction, Operation and Decommissioning / Repowering). This involves developing tailored engagement tactics to meet the specific needs of the project including consideration of: the technologies involved; project location / local and regional issues; relevant regulatory framework; key stakeholder groups and community appetite for support of Renewable technologies.

The Stakeholder & Community Manager is responsible for ensuring that stakeholder engagement plans positively influence key stakeholders and contributes to the achievement of strategic business objectives through the award of planning permissions during Development. The Stakeholder & Community Manager ensures that all stakeholder engagement for projects is fully aligned to latest policy e.g., NPF4, which is fundamental to unlocking positive planning determinations.

The Stakeholder & Community Manager is also responsible for the completion of necessary planning conditions during Construction activity and for being the ultimate owner of relationships with community stakeholders throughout the project's Operational life.

The Stakeholder & Community Manager is responsible for negotiating, implementing and monitoring Community Benefit Agreements or other community investment models between SPR and its local stakeholders to ensure that the multi-million pound funds provided by SPR are utilised by communities to support SPR's strategic aims and fulfil policy requirements i.e. build wealth within communities and unlock their economic value.

What you'll be doing

Responsible for developing and implementing project-level strategies to enable positive stakeholder engagement from project inception onwards. This includes the completion of stakeholder mapping exercises, stakeholder profiling and preparation of stakeholder engagement plans for a portfolio of Development projects, as well as advising and influencing project team members to ensure all stakeholder activity fully aligns to these strategies and plans.

Ensure stakeholder plans are designed to increase acceptance of Development projects by key stakeholder groups (including Planning Authorities) by creating bespoke plans tailored to each project and by fully aligning these plans to the needs of UK, National and regional policy e.g. NPF4.

Ensure stakeholder events / interactions in the project Development phase, including Public Information Days, Public Inquiries and Community consultations, are appropriately planned and executed by contributing to and preparing promotional material as well as preparing briefing notes on key stakeholders and briefing project team members ahead of events. Attend and present at these events as appropriate.

Build, sustain and own long-standing relationships with key stakeholder groups (community, government and industry) and leverage these relationships when required across the duration of the project lifecycle (Development to Construction to Operations). Represent SPR at these key stakeholder groups.

Own the relationship between SPR and Communities for operational projects, being the lead interface between these stakeholders and SPR. Understand local and regional community needs and develop and implement influencing strategies to address these needs whilst also fulfilling the objectives of SPR / SP e.g., demonstrating attainment of policy objectives. Maintain a visible presence in communities in which SPR operates by, for example, attending relevant community meetings.

Responsible for developing and negotiating Community Benefit agreements or other community investment models between SPR and Community Groups (Community Councils, Local Authorities and other third parties), brokering agreements between multiple parties with conflicting priorities. This will also require the development of bespoke solutions for community funding, for which the role holder will be responsible for taking through internal approval routes.

What you'll bring

Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g., public relations, stakeholder engagement). Significant experience working in the Renewables sector with detailed understanding of the key phases of the project lifecycle (Development, Construction, Operation and Decommissioning / Repowering). Significant experience in stakeholder engagement, public relations or project liaison roles. Demonstrable experience in implementing successful stakeholder engagement strategies and plans at a project level and advising and influencing project teams in delivering these. Knowledge of key Renewable's stakeholder groups and how effective engagement can support positive decision making for projects. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to influence, negotiate and advocate across a number of internal / external stakeholders with competing priorities. Strong project management skills to bring together multiple parties to deliver a positive outcome for SPR and its stakeholders.

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
