We are now recruiting for an Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Speech, Language and Communication (SLCN) to take a lead role in promoting the understanding of SLCN throughout the school and share expertise with colleagues. You will work under the guidance of the Assistant SENDCos and strategic leadership of the SENDCo. 

This is a exciting opportunity to join our SEND team in this essential role in a thriving inclusive school in the heart of Mid Devon.

We are looking for a experienced colleague who has a genuine passion for working with students with SEND to complement and support class teachers in the teaching of 1:1 or small groups of students, as well as whole classes, whilst progressing students with their learning.

You will work with all stakeholders, including students and their teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure that SEND students' needs are met within an inclusive environment that allows them to access the National Curriculum in accordance with the provisions of the SEN Code of Practice (2014) and Disability Discrimination Act. 

You will be experienced and confident in delivering support, advice and training as well as planning, developing and implementing appropriate interventions and curriculum courses. 

You will contribute to the development of other support staff through the appraisal process and will actively lead and develop members of the Teaching Assistant team; and on a daily basis ensure that high standards of support for all students are consistently maintained.

We are looking for a colleague who is an excellent communicator with proven ability to assess, plan, support and monitor the progress of children with SEND. You will have excellent attention to detail and experience of completing referrals and other relevant paperwork and a meticulous approach to record keeping.
