About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) team at Tiverton High School. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Speech, Language and Communication (SLCN) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance of the Assistant SENDCos and strategic leadership of the SENDCo to promote the understanding of SLCN throughout the school.
  • Share expertise with colleagues to enhance the teaching and learning of students with SLCN needs.
  • Support class teachers in the teaching of 1:1 or small groups of students, as well as whole classes, to progress students with their learning.
  • Work with all stakeholders, including students, teachers, parents, and external agencies, to ensure that students' needs are met within an inclusive environment.
  • Deliver support, advice, and training to colleagues, and plan, develop, and implement appropriate interventions and curriculum courses.
  • Contribute to the development of other support staff through the appraisal process and lead and develop members of the Teaching Assistant team.
  • Ensure high standards of support for all students are consistently maintained.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to assess, plan, support, and monitor the progress of children with SLCN needs.
  • Experience of completing referrals and other relevant paperwork and a meticulous approach to record keeping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
