Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Special Products' Underwriting Team based in Cardiff Bay. This role allows you to work with a dynamic, friendly and experienced team of underwriters, to develop your underwriting skills and build relationships across the wider group.

The role involves the review of credit limit applications from new and existing customers, with a focus on financial analysis, economic performance and political risks. You will also have the opportunity to manage a portfolio of risks for some of our key customers.

You will have the possibility to work closely with the Special Products' Commercial Unit, attending presentations and participating in customer meetings.

Requirements:

You will need to be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to discuss risk issues confidently. The ability to focus on service to customers is a key requirement and the successful candidate must be able to clearly demonstrate a positive attitude and proactive approach. An ability to work individually and within a team environment is key.

Candidates should be aware that the position would involve travel (potentially overseas). A flexible approach to working hours is essential.

We are looking for someone who preferably has:

  • a degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting
  • an ability to interpret external reports and examine financial information
  • an understanding of UK and/or worldwide economics
  • an interest in worldwide current affairs
  • the ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to work with MS office applications
