Whinfell School is located across two sites in the picturesque town of Kendal, Cumbria. Whinfell forms both home and school for students with outstanding facilities to enable students to learn, progress and grow as individuals. Whinfell School has a proud and successful tradition of supporting students between the ages of 11-19 with Autism and Complex Needs to gain valuable life skills, qualifications and confidence to support their onward journey towards independence.

The Role

As a key part of the dedicated teams we allocate to every child, you'll have a vital role in helping children and develop skills for life. You don't need any special qualifications for this role, but you do need to share our passion to help children be the very best they can be.

In return, our new and improved training programmes will help you develop your professional skills. You will also learn from some of the most dedicated and inspirational people in our profession and just like our residents, you will be learning all the time through our ongoing mentoring and support.

Night Support Workers have a passion for working with young people and want to make a difference in young people's lives. Your ambition to see our young people live full and active, fun-filled lives will have a profound impact on the wellbeing and development of the young people in your care.

As a Night Support Worker you will:

Supervise and support the young people at Whinfell School if they wake during the nightSupport young people with any prescribed emergency medication.Build and maintain positive professional relationships with staff and young people.Encourage and motivate young people to wake and prepare for their day.Ability to demonstrate good communication skills including the ability to clarify and explain instructions clearly.Support young people's emotional and physical wellbeing.Produce legible, accurate and prompt written reports/records.To help young people grow in their own sense of confidence and identity.

Cambian will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
