We have an exciting position for a Support Worker who is interested in working in the Education sector as Classroom Assistant.

We are looking for someone who has experience working with Adults with Disabilities or Young people with Disabilities.


The role is to support the qualified teacher in the classroom in delivering personalised curriculum based on the needs of the pupil.

Class sizes are usually around 5-10 pupils depending on the level of needs. There is a team of support staff and external professionals supporting the pupils and families.


Depending on your experience you could be working with primary or secondary aged pupils, we will place you in an environment that you are most effective.

The role

  • To create a safe and nurturing classroom environment for pupils with special educational needs.
  • To communicate effectively with the staffing team and the pupils to create a dynamic learning environment.
  • Support the Teacher in delivering personalised education for each pupil, you may be expected to fill in reading and learning journals when required.
  • Support with additional sessions such as Physiotherapy, Swimming, Sensory Play, Speech and Language sessions.
  • You may be expected various communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, or Electronic methods of communication. (these can be learnt on the role)
  • To follow positive behaviour management methods.
  • Help with snack times and lunchtimes.
The ideal applicant

  • Will have work experience with adults or young people with disabilities
  • Will be kind, caring and patient
  • Reliable
  • Will be adaptable
  • A social care qualification or a degree however this is not a must

Salary:
£85.00-£95.00 per day
