Healthy Families Project Officer

Job Summary:

The post holders will be responsible for delivery of our new Healthy Families Lifestyle service. You will have a direct impact on improving the health and wellbeing of Sandwell residents by conducting family behaviour change programmes. The bespoke family programmes will include topics such as, parenting programme, physical activity, health and wellbeing, food and nutrition and signposting.



The post holder will:

  • Use their expertise and knowledge to ensure the correct advice and guidance is provided.
  • Build and maintain supportive and collaborative relationships with local families participating in programmes including keeping in touch between sessions.
  • Share knowledge, provide information and guidance regarding lifestyle behaviours such as healthy eating, physical activity, alcohol consumption, smoking, mental wellbeing, and other areas identified from wider determinant factors.
  • Maintain good relationships with school providers, school nurseries, school nurses and community groups to ensure families and children's needs are met.
  • Record, monitor and provide outcomes to support the effectiveness of the programme and making sure they meet the community needs by reflecting on practice, analysing the programme and responding to the need of the community.

    The role will require an excellent level of customer care and motivational skills in order to engage and encourage families to make a positive behavioural change.

    The post holder will need to have the ability to multitask, support and deal with enquiries in a professional manner and have the ability to holistically work with other services in order to provide a customer orientated service.

    You will hold a Level 3 Award in Nutrition and or Physical Activity - or an equivalent qualification - to allow you to deliver sessions on these themes and possession of 5 GCSE grade C or above, including English and Maths or equivalent experience.

    You will have experience of community engagement work with parents & families and experience in delivering targeted health improvement or public health interventions.

    Enhanced DBS with Children's and Adults Barring List Check is required for this role.
