Job Purpose

  • Support the delivery of the high quality Flying Start Childcare required.
  • Establish effective relationships with parents/ carers and children in Flying Start areas.
  • Promote the ethos of Flying Start including the provision of a community resource maximising the benefits to children and their families.

Detailed Task Profile

  • Responsible for delivering high quality childcare provision
  • Take time to listen, respond and work individually with children to support their development.
  • Actively contribute to the team in the setting and the wider Flying Start team to ensure full delivery and take up of entitlements by Flying Start families.
  • Actively contribute to planning of childcare sessions (Grade 5).
  • Responsible as a key adult including undertaking personal care needs of their key children.
  • Support the development of the Flying Start centre as a suitable environment for trainee students (Grade 5).
  • Support the Leader in the completion of any paperwork relevant to the site including register, accident book, medication etc.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions complying with all legislation.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of setting Policies and Procedures, National Minimum
  • Standards and Regulations to ensure compliance in the setting (Grade 5).
  • Support the setting to achieve CQS, National Quality Assurance scheme, Healthy Early Years scheme and any other quality scheme as required (Grade 5).
  • Support the creation of a culture of reflective practice in the setting to ensure continual improvement (Grade 5).
