**We are recruiting an Asbestos Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.**
**Working hours**: 37 Hours (7.24 Hours Monday - Friday)
**Contract Type**:Full Time/Fixed Term for 12 months
**Location**: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Health & Safety Team.
**We pay an attractive salary of £36,648 - £39,186 and offer access to training and development opportunities.**
Caerphilly County Borough Councils’ Health and Safety Division require a qualified and experienced Asbestos Officer to assist the Health & Safety Team in ensuring that the Council meets legislative requirements. This is a Fixed Term Contract for a period of 12-months from date of appointment.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual for this diverse and interesting role where the variety of duties include, carrying out asbestos surveys and condition monitoring, investigating asbestos related incidents and developing asbestos related training and briefings. Also to provide specialist advice on asbestos related incidents, responding to concerns, advising on clean-up and/or remedial action and acting as part of the Authority’s specialist team on all aspects of asbestos management.
The successful applicant must hold a P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling and P405 Asbestos Management (or equivalent).
**For the role, we ask that you**:
- Posess 5 GSCEs Grade A*-C or equivalent Level 2 qualifications on the Credit and Qualification/s Framework for Wales. Or Relevant Level 2 qualification/s on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example NVQ Level 2 Administration.
- Demonstrate an excellent knowledge and understanding asbestos containing materials (ACMs) and the associated risk.
- Hold a full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit sites and attend meetings.
